International Paper Maintenance Mechanic A in BINGHAMTON CONTAINER, New York

Duties for mechanics include, but are not restricted to, replacing valves & gaskets, basic welding, repacking pumps & valves, forklift operations, screw pipe & tubing installations, cylinder repair, pump repair & replacement, repair of rotating assemblies, roll repair and replacements, motor replacements, and repair of mechanical drive systems.

Must be able to show up for work on time.

Work on other projects as assigned by manager.

Knowledge:

Mechanical- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.

Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and their applications.

Engineering and Technology - Knowledge of the pratical application of engineering science and technology.

English language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meening and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Building & Construction-Knowledge of materials,methdos, and the tools involved in the construction and repairing building.

Skills:

Electrical- PLC drivers/motors

Equipment Maintenance-Performing routine maintenance on equiment and determing when and what kind of maintenance is needed.

Operation Monitoring-Watch guages, dials, and other indicators to make sure a machine is working peoperly.

Repairing- epairing machines or systems using the needed tools.

Troubleshooting- Determining causes of poerating errors and deciding what to do about it.

Operations and Control - Controlling operations of equiment or systems.

Quality Control Analysis- Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.

Critical Thinking- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

Equipment Selection- Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.

Active Listening- Giving full aqttention to what other people are saying, taking the time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

Complex Problem Solving - Identifying complex problems.

Education/Experience/Requirements

High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent work Experience, Basic Computer Skills, Prefer, but not required previous experience in the paper industry or other manufacturing field.

External maintenance certification a plus

A mix of mechanical and electrical skills, a plus

Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and over time

Must undergo a pre-employment assessment and screening and pass a pre-emploment testing assessment

Work Context:

Must wear personal protective equipment, such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats.

Potiential exposure to dust, sounds/noise levels, Frequent Walking, Occasional Sitting, Frequent standing, Frequent bending, pushing, pulling. Frequent face-to-face discussions

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for following the company's safety policies, including, but not limited to LOTO and machine guarding.
