Job Description

Job Summary:

The Clerk - Phys Office works in a customer service capacity providing administrative and clerical support to patients and customers in an outpatient clinic and/or medical office setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Greets patients and visitors, checks patients in and out, and obtains necessary documentation. Verifies and enters demographic information.

  • Obtains and verifies insurance authorizations/precertification. Completes medical record release requests and schedules/confirms patient appointments.

  • Enters, reviews and submits charges for patient procedures and services daily. Collects co-payments and reconciles all daily reports and deposits for accuracy.

  • Provides general office and clerical support to assigned out-patient/medical office.

  • Scans and files documents into the EHR

Qualifications

Education & Work Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required

  • Associate‚Äôs Degree Preferred

  • Experience in the operation of basic office equipment required.

  • Must possess excellent organizational, communication and human relation skills.

  • Requires numerical skills and basic knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Knowledge of ICD-9 or ICD-10 coding for lab/x-ray orders preferred.

  • Recent experience working in a medical office setting preferred.

  • Experience working with Allscripts preferred.
