Job Description:

Budget Title: Senior Programmer/Analyst (SL-4)

Salary: $70,000

The window server administrator will be responsible for all aspects of Microsoft Windows system administration services in support of the University's Business Systems Group. The ideal candidate will have experience with VMware virtualization technologies and enterprise SAN/NAS storage provisioning within the Windows Server Operating System. The administrator will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support to other teams within the organization. This person will also be responsible for documenting processes and automating them, as required.

Candidate must possess solid analytical, technical, written and oral communication skills.

The server administrator reports to the Assistant Director of Enterprise Systems and will work closely with other key groups and staff members within Information Technology Services (ITS).

In addition, the Windows Server Administrator responsibilities will include:

  • Provisioning, installation, and maintenance of systems running Server 2008/2012R2.

  • Proficiency with Active Directory (LDAP), SCCM, WSUS, DNS, WINS, IIS, Group Policy and Domain administration.

  • Participation in security audits and implementing changes to resolve concerns.

  • Develop and maintain documentation as required.

  • Oversees the diagnosis and correction of infrastructure problems.

  • Oversees the health and well-being of the technical infrastructure.

  • Maintains industry best standards and practices.

  • Perform system backup and recovery.

  • Work collaboratively.

  • Must be able to maintain data confidentiality and compliance with regulatory requirements (HIPAA, etc.)

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Information Systems/Sciences, or a related field.

  • Minimum of six years of relevant experience in Information Technology; previous system administration experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience in Windows Server administration (Windows 2008, 2012 and 2016), deployment, configuration and support, including security and patching.

  • Experience with VMware and/or other virtualization technologies.

  • Experience with documenting new and existing processes.

  • Proficient with Active Directory (LDAP), SCCM, WSUS, DNS, WINS, IIS, Group Policy and Domain administration.

  • Automation of repetitive tasks using batch files, PowerShell, VBScript and WMI.

  • Ability to troubleshoot using standard Windows processes and tools.

  • Performance tuning and system optimization.

  • Some experience with Linux; cross-platform system integration.

  • Some experience working with MS SQL/Oracle Databases.

  • Must be detail oriented, organized, have the ability to multi-task with excellent problem solving skills, willing attitude and persistent follow-through.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Position Preferences:

  • Oracle database and application server administration is a plus.

    • Experience in working in a large complex organization.
    • Experience working in higher education or a research environment.
