POSITION: Employment Services Professional

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Employment Services professional is responsible for providing case management, on-the-job training and placement services to developmentally disabled adults in community based jobs. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Establish contacts within the community to develop both job sites and job opportunities, employer relationships and commitments from employers to access positions for program participants.

Provides on-site training, counseling, and on-call assistance to participants and to the employers.

Coordinates and provides long-term support to participants in the community including maintenance case files, required paperwork and correspondence.

Provides educational awareness programs to parents, community personnel, Board of Directors, schools and residential programs, to include public speaking related to the aspects of community/supported employment.

Contacts local ACCES-VR office and/or any local services to process funding mechanism for program sponsorship. This could include, but not limited to OJT, TJTC, Job Development, Situational Assessment, Job Coaching Services and Service Coordination.

Will be required to perform Job Coaching and/or follow along service to an identified number of program participants.

Provides transportation training to participants to the specific job site and may be required to transport participants to job interviews or job sites on an as needed basis.

Submit as required by Supported Employment Coordinator, scheduled statistical information related to the program services, as well as monthly reports to Coordinator, ACCES-VR and other sponsoring agencies.

Advocates for consumers with outside agencies for needed services.

Communicates and coordinates with families and care providers to provide support and consistency in training.

Participates in team meetings and works as a full member of the vocational rehabilitation team.

Keeps informed of developments in the field.

Any other duties and responsibilities deemed necessary or appropriate by the Support Work Coordinator.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prospective candidates must possess a valid driver-s license and good driving record acceptable to agency insurance carrier

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.

  • Certification in First Aid and CPR after successful completion of an approved course.

  • Some heavy lifting may be required.

  • Responsible for following agency safety and health policies, procedures and rules.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor-s Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation and two years appropriate field experience in a similar working situation or Associates Degree in Business/Liberal Arts or Human Services or a combination of education and experience deemed appropriate by the agency.

Experience working within the business community and/or for not for profit agencies.

Experience working with developmentally disabled individuals preferred.
